CUAHA National CUAHA Teams are the operational body of CUAHA at country level. The National CUAHA Team (NCT) is composed of representatives of CUAHA Partner churches and organizations in a particular country. NCTs form the backbone of CUAHA. The National CUAHA Teams (NCT’s) are responsible for implementation of CUAHA activities more independently, with support and monitoring provided by the CUAHA Regional Office in Nairobi. NCTs are the most sustainable arm of the CUAHA network!
The active National CUAHA Teams in Eastern and Southern Africa where CUAHA operates include; Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland and Zambia are emerging too! Plans to establish National country Teams in Malawi, South Africa and Zimbabwe are under way! CUAHA is increasingly supporting and strengthening the National CUAHA Teams to implement and sustain CUAHA activities in the region. The sustainability of CUAHA is based on building the capacity of the National CUAHA Teams to effectively respond to HIV&AIDS. Since CUAHA inception in 2002, NCTs have implemented joint activities and registered a significant impact in areas of advocacy, arts and culture and human rights related to HIV&AIDS.
The CUAHA Network allows partner churches and organizations to keep their independence but provides them with an added value! HIV and AIDS response is more effective and efficient when sharing the existing resources compared to each individual church trying alone to make a meaningful response. A network co-operation has provided CUAHA partner churches and organizations to make a real impact on broader development challenges. CUAHA Network brings together churches and organisations that might not in normal circumstances work together. CUAHA partners now are cohesive in their understanding of the joint vision and method of implementation of the both individual and joint activities. During the period 2009 – 2011, CUAHA will focus on Strengthening and empowering the network to jointly act and advocate for HIV&AIDS response in national, regional and international level. Hope creates joint action and joint action creates hope is CUAHA motto!
